I got my first pair of vintage Levi’s about five years ago. As a long time denim enthusiast, I was pretty late to the vintage jeans arena. Even upon getting my first pair, I barely wore them. It was a very casual progression. As I shopped around over the last few years, I picked up a couple more pairs that I’ve worn here and there.
This year something clicked and my vintage styles became the jeans I was reaching for the most. And honestly, I don’t know why. It might be that over the past five years I’ve written lots of denim reviews and have explored wearing many different modern styles, coupled with my track record in life for liking change? An unsure guess— ha.
I will say, that even when I wasn’t wearing vintage jeans, the history of denim has always fascinated me. It’s an American staple that was originally created to be a workwear piece. Over time, jeans made their way from humble beginnings all the way up to high fashion. They used to be made in the USA, both the fabric and the jeans, and as the world changed and business went global, so did almost all of our denim production. This is one of the reasons why people want vintage jeans, the quality and durability of the made in the USA denim fits perfectly into the “they just don’t make ’em like they used to” saying.
Denim is a really versatile item, both vintage and modern, but there are some specific reasons why I think vintage denim looks incredible with pretty much everything.
1.) Vintage denim is worn-in.
The softened material and relaxed shape blend effortlessly with other casual pieces, creating laid-back outfits.

This natural patina, developed over years of wear, creates varied tones that make it easy to pair with a wide range of colors.

The 100% cotton, made-in-USA denim is more durable than most modern denim.
