Summer is flying by and with all of the hot days we’ve had in Nashville, I’ve had the chance to gather up my go-to summer outfit combos for 2025. This season I’m sharing five outfit combinations that I’ve been wearing on repeat. They’re all easy and mostly casual for my work from home mom life.
Tips for Summer Outfit Making:
If you’re like me and you live somewhere that gets super hot, it can feel difficult to make interesting outfits without the ability to layer. Even though our options feel more limited, there are still ways to make great summer outfits. Here are a few tips for summer outfit making.
- Utilize Accessories— adding a belt to your outfit makes it look more put together and complete, sunglasses are practical and add chic-ness, a hat keeps the sun out of your eyes ands more detail, handbags in interesting textures, colors, and shape add visual interest, shoe style makes a big impact, jewelry and scarves are also ways to add more interest while keeping cool.
- Create Juxtaposition— mix pieces that are different styles, materials, textures so your outfits have a bit of a twist and more visual appeal.
- Play with Shapes & Silhouettes— have a variety of basics like tees and tanks with different necklines, sleeves, materials, length, etc.. Your denim shorts could be mid-length, long, pleated, a-line, cuffed, etc.
How to Discover Your Go-To Seasonal Outfit Combos:
If you want to discover your go-to seasonal outfit combos, I recommend taking photos of your outfits (just a quick mirror selfie) and/or writing down what you wear. Then you can go over your photos/notes to find repeated combinations. Or, you can do the reverse— start with a list of combinations that you have seen and like, then create your outfits from there.
Benefits of Go-To Seasonal Outfit Combos:
- They un-complicate getting dressed and allow you to quickly make outfits you love.
- You can easily repeat them. It won’t get boring because you can still be creative within the combination— it’s just a framework!
- They help you better identify and understand your personal style.

1.) Non-Denim Shorts + Tank Top + Sandals

LEFT— Tank // Shorts // Bag // Sandals
RIGHT— Tank // Shorts (old from Madewell) // Bag // Shoes
I love this combo because it’s easy and great for super hot days. It’s a laid-back outfit, but not quite as casual and wearing denim. It’s easy to repeat without sacrificing variety.
2.) One-And-Done: Dress or Romper + Sandals

LEFT— Tank Suit (code: MICHELLE_TOMCZAK for 10% off) // Bag // Sandals
RIGHT— Dress // Sweater // Bag // Sandals
I love one-and-dones in every season. It’s the best when you want as few decisions as possible when you’re getting dressed. Switching up your accessories is the best way to keep these outfits feeling fresh and new.
3.) Oversized Shirt + Shorts + Sling Bag + Sandals

LEFT— Shirt // Bag (code: MICHELLE15 for 15% off your first order) // Shorts // Shoes
RIGHT—Shirt (similar) // Bag // Shorts // Sandals (size down 1/2)
I love this combo because it feels lade-back and chic. The oversized shirt silhouette works in the summer because it’s loose and breezy. I love how a sling bag breaks up the untucked shirt. The sandals keep is feeling summer-y.
4.) Denim Shorts + Tee + Sandals

LEFT— Shirt // Shorts // Bag // Sandals
RIGHT— Tee // Shorts // Bag // Sandals
This one is a classic, forever, summer combo. Even as the cuts and styling changes over the years, every year there are shorts, tees, and sandals. The more basic the combo, the greater the variety that exists within it. The two looks above are proof of that— different length shorts, a crochet bag vs. a classic leather bag, a fitted v-neck tee vs. a loose cropped tee, jelly sandals vs. leather lace up sandals.
5.) Tee/Tank + Lightweight Pants + Sandals

LEFT— Tee (I got my true size but go up if you want it less fitted) // Pants // Bag // Sandals
RIGHT— Tank // Pants // Bag // Sandals (old from Frēda Salvador)
For the last combo, in the examples above the base looks almost identical— cream knit top, same black pants, necklace, and sunglasses. The handbag and sandal choices are completely different and accessories have a lot of power over how the completed look reads. The look on the left is very laid back summer with the ultra casual crochet bag and red cord sandals. The look on the right is more elevated with black leather sandals and a coordinating classic black handbag.
